The entire history of the Town and County of Nice is traced in this palace, inspired by a First Empire Italian villa that belonged to Lucien Bonaparte. The library of the Chevalier de Cessole contains over 10,000 volumes on Nice and the surrounding region, plus very rare manuscripts. Built at the end of last century by perfume-manufacturer Coty, this majestic residence stands in the midst of a superb park. In 1975, the Château Sainte-Hélène became the international museum of naive art, thanks especially to the major donation of Mr and Mrs Jakovsky : over 600 canvasses and drawings, plus sculptures.
